Love Our Children USA's Programs

"A Hundred Years From Now It Will Not Matter What My    Bank Account Was, The Sort    Of House I Lived In, Or The Kind Of Car I Drove...But The World May Be Different Because I Was Important In The Life Of A Child."
                                               – Forest Whitcraft

Each year over 3 million children are victimized and neglected and those are only the ones that are reported! The actual number of child victims is estimated to be three times greater. Each year almost 1.8 million children are reported missing – many of them abducted from their own homes and front yards. Over 580,000 children in this country live in foster care.

Love Our Children USA is dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence against children. It has become the go-to prevention organization for all forms of violence and neglect against children.

The Youth For Youth Partnership

The Youth For Youth Partnership connects volunteer youth mentors 16-24, who want to
be part of the solution, abused youths and the power of the Internet. Through the Youth
For Youth Partnership, volunteer young people mentor their peers who have been abused, bullied or who are at-risk of abuse. By listening to abused and at-risk youths,
sharing information about child abuse and violence, making the experience of reporting abuse a more supportive one, and offering information, hope, resources, and referrals – abused and at-risk youths are empowered to talk about their abuse, school violence and other abuse and violence issues. Simultaneously, volunteer mentors become powerful
advocates for other youths and themselves … becoming part of the solution …thereby,
making a difference for ALL young people.

The National District Attorney's Child Protection Task Force

A national group of child abuse and domestic violence prosecutors and law enforcement
professionals working on various issues on how to help children and families in our
communities, the prosecution of abusers and family court issues.

National Block Parenting Program

Creating safe havens for children in times of danger. Neighborhoods unite and select
parents who are home, while others work. Block parents are screened by police
and display visible Block Parenting signs on windows and on doors to assist children in need of help. If a child is frightened for some reason, harassed by someone, lost, approached by a stranger, witnesses an accident or needs help for any other
reason, they can go to the Block Parent for help.

The Block Parent program makes neighborhood children feel safer whether or not they are ever actually called on in an emergency, because Block Parent signs can often deter kidnappers and child predators.

National Love Our Children Day

National Love Our Children Day celebrates America’s children on the first Saturday of every April. Recognized annually with a proclamation from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the day is a celebration of children …much like Mother’s and Father’s day — but for children, was first introduced on ABC’s “The View.” It was created to acknowledge the value of children - giving them a healthy start. By giving kids the three essential
elements which are love, protection and respect, we give our children the confidence they need to become strong and fit adults.

Parents should take time to honor children each year on the first Saturday of April! Events will take place and communities across the country will celebrate their children. This national celebration is an initiative of Love Our Children USA.

By honoring, respecting and protecting children and celebrating the loving relationship we all should have with them, we can keep them safe and protected and break the cycle of violence and neglect against them. Reinforcing values of treating children with kindness and respect, nurturing their development, maintaining their self-esteem, creating a safe, non-violent world in which they can live, and reinforcing loving, healthy families to give all children a healthy start.
